Basic aspects of the COVID-19 prevention plan

At the Playa Esperanza Resort the health and wellbeing of our clients, employees and suppliers is our main priority. We understand that information is very important to you at the moment so that you have confidence in our hotels and therefore we would like to explain the hygiene and safety measures that we have implemented to reduce any risks.

PLAYA ESPERANZA RESORT has designed an action plan in collaboration with health advisors so that we can reinforce the safety, hygiene and quality standards that we already had in place and adapt to the new requirements and necessary preventative measures to fight COVID19.

This plan will be reviewed and updated according to take into account any new requirements that may arise as the pandemic develops, and can be divided into specific and general measures for each of the different departments:

Redesigning spaces:

 
  • CAPACITY LIMITATION:
    All public areas will be resized and adapted to guarantee social distancing measures and to reduce capacity (restaurants, bars, reception, pool areas, etc…).

  • HAND HYGIENE:
    There will be sanitiser gel stations installed at different points around the establishment in order to facilitate hand hygiene for our clients and staff.

  •  
  • INFORMATION:
    Our clients will be provided with information about hygiene measures and our health and safety protocols.

  • GLOBAL HYGIENIC CLEAN:
    Prior to opening the hotel all surfaces and systems within our facilities will undergo specific cleaning and disinfection treatments.

    The air conditioning system will be cleaned and monitored more frequently and a greater amount of air will be drawn from outside.

    All our water facilities (drinking water, pools and SPA) will continue to be maintained in optimum hygiene and safety conditions.

  • WORK PLACE:
    Work places have been adapted in order to guarantee a safe distance when providing a service or attending to our guests by installing protective safety screens in some areas (reception, buffet service...)

Staff training and protection

 
  • TRAINING:
    All staff will receive specific training with regards to the new protocols and health and safety measures prior to re-opening the hotel in order to ensure that all protocols are carried out correctly.

  • PROTECTIVE EQUIPEMENT:
    Staff will have individual PPE, according to the result of the risk assessment carried out for each post, which they should use whenever social distancing guidelines cannot be adhered to. Guests will be requested to maintain a safe distance or wear a face covering if social distancing is not possible. In certain areas where it is possible, physical protection barriers have been installed.

 

Cleaning and disinfection

 
  • Use of virucidal products with proven efficiency.

  • Increase in the frequency of cleaning and disinfection programmes for rooms, public areas, bathrooms, stair handrails, lifts, SPA, gyms and other public areas.

  • Continuous cleaning and disinfection of the restaurant area, bars and dining room during service and after each client (chairs, tables, stools, …)

Adaptation of services

 
  • RECEPTION:
    The handling of documents during the check-in process has been reduced to a minimum. Staff will disinfect POS units, telephones, shared objects, counters, etc. after every use. Payment by card will be encouraged (contactless).

  • RESTAURANTS:
    Modification of the buffet service which will be entirely served by our staff and protective screens will be in place. The dishwasher tunnels will undergo exhaustive reviews and controls of the temperature setting (>80ºC), and linen will be washed and disinfected at over 60ºC.

  • ROOMS:
    Specific protocols will be established for room cleaning, including all surfaces and linens, to protect against COVID-19.

  • ENTERTAINMENT:
    Entertainment activities will be modified to ensure social distancing measures can be observed, encouraging more individual outdoor activities and avoiding sharing objects or equipment.

External audits

 

External audits will be carried out periodically to review the correct implementation of the action plan, as well as to verify the efficiency of the increased cleaning and disinfection programme in rooms and public areas.

This is in addition to the health and safety audits that are already carried out in the areas of food hygiene, pools and drinking water.
